LEFTOVER CHAPATIS
LEFTOVER CHAPATIS WITH MILK & SUGAR

My acquaintance with this dish, is time immemorial.  I've known this and have eaten this since my early memories of my early age takes me.  It happens when there are any left-over Chapatis and sometimes it happens with hot Chapatis right out from the griddle too.  So, all these years Chapatis with milk and sugar has been one comfort food, close to heart, loaded with nostalgia, an all-time favourite dish of my wholesome preference.

This is not a recipe on its own and many would have eaten this before, could have been a common left-over... make-over...  At most of the homes.  But I found that some people have never come across this dish.  Or some do not like the idea of mixing Chapatis with milk(like my husband).  He loves to gobble it up with Jaggery Syrup.  Yet another make-over, common to some households.  So this recipe is for people who do not know about this dish.  Simple, quick-fix, healthy, tasty and one good way to use up your left-over Chapatis.

Just shred two -three Chapatis, pour some hot or cold milk over it and have it as such.  Can add some sugar or honey to sweeten it too.  I usually sweeten it up with Sugar, an age old tradition at home, how I've eaten this ever.  A sudden urge for snacking, a craving for a sweet tooth, a quick evening snack after school, all these cravings were satiated by this humble standalone dish, Chapatis with milk & sugar.  I have even given this as a baby food for my kids(2 years and above, still I feed them with this).

Well, when it comes to dishes made with left-overs, make sure they are stored well until next use or make sure it has not spoilt.  Chapatis are made with Wheat Flour and water, and when they are cooked in a griddle, most of the moisture content is removed from the Chapatis, making them suitable to be stored for a long time.  Do not use Chapatis left at room temperature for more than 12-15 hours.  And it suits to the climatic condition you live in too.

I usually store up left-over Chapatis in the refrigerator and reheat it up in the griddle on a very-very low flame for a few seconds.  Do not worry, left-over Chapatis reheated do not turn hard, if you worry about it make sure to smear some oil or ghee over it.  And if you are going to eat it with Milk then no worries at all.  It turns soft when soaked in milk.  Allow it to soak it for about 10 minutes before eating.

TRIVIA No.2:

The CHOW TIME SPOON - By Royal Selangor

The Spoon in the picture is from Royal Selangor Collection. The Chow Time Spoon or the Stork Spoon.

A myth dating to Greek antiquity, a stork delivering a bundle in its beak has become a ubiquitous symbol of childbirth. According to European folklore, the stork is responsible for bringing babies to new parents. Popularized by a 19th-century Hans Christian Andersen story called "The Storks."  This version of Spoon depicts a Stork flying to its kids carrying the food, delivering an infant’s first experience of solid food.
